Chasing Cops
This past MLK weekend I traveled from the Bay Area to Los Angeles to try an acquire some images for the upcoming gallery exhibition at the Think Tank Gallery for the You Are Here II exhibit. Its a surprisingly easy drive and given that it provides me the opportunity to visit many other coastal treasures I have a feeling its a drive I’ll be repeating in a week or so.
DTLA was not nearly as threatening as some of my friends had alluded to. I had only been to LA once before, briefly and I didn’t end up downtown. It was a pleasant surprise to say the least. Photographic opportunities were many as were the mentally ill bums walking five to ten paces behind me mumbling to themselves.
My time was spent chasing cops for the most part, or things that brought them to mind. When I tired of tracking the police I took a break and traveled to the observatory in Griffith park. Wish I’d known of its popularity before going, would have gotten there much sooner.
The Disney building downtown was my home base for my foot travels in the city. Just easier to find parking here. My next visit will see me to the many other areas of LA that are part of the map for this very interesting photography experiment.
I’d love to hear any ideas for locations in the downtown area. Even better, if you are a member of or know a member of the LAPD willing to have their portrait taken I’d love the hook up. Keep checking back for updates.

The last image has wonderful light contrasts.
I like all three of these for entirely different reasons. Nice job on them, Brett.
